MASSAGE THERAPY FOR AUTO INJURY
A motor vehicle accident can affect the body in ways that extend beyond the initial impact. Pain and restriction may be immediate, or emerge gradually in the days that follow as the body settles from the stress of the event. Muscular tension, protective guarding, stiffness, aches, and changes in movement are all common experiences during recovery.
At Soft Issue Studio, medical massage offers a considered space for recovery that meets your body where it is and adapts as your needs change. Treatment attends to the soft tissue patterns that develop around injury, working with tension, tenderness, restriction, and compensation while supporting mobility and a gradual return to greater comfort and ease in movement.
For eligible Oregon Personal Injury Protection (PIP) claims, accident-related massage therapy may be covered and billed directly to your auto insurance carrier.

The body does not always register the full effects of an accident immediately. Adrenaline, endorphins, and the stress response can temporarily alter the perception of pain, while soreness, stiffness, headaches, muscular tension, or restriction may become more noticeable in the days that follow.
As recovery unfolds, the body may also brace around vulnerable areas or redistribute effort elsewhere. Massage therapy can support these changing soft tissue patterns by addressing tension, guarding, tenderness, and restriction as they present.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) is part of Oregon auto insurance coverage. It helps pay for reasonable and necessary medical expenses related to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident, regardless of who was at fault.
Oregon PIP generally provides at least $15,000 in medical benefits for qualifying expenses incurred within two years of the injury. Your individual policy may provide additional coverage.
-
Massage therapy may be covered through PIP when it is considered reasonable and necessary care for your accident-related injuries.
For accepted auto injury cases, eligible treatment is billed directly to your auto insurance carrier. Coverage and any applicable requirements are reviewed before care begins.

1. Verification of Benefits
Begin by submitting your PIP and claim information. Soft Issue Studio will verify your available benefits and eligibility for massage therapy with your insurance carrier before accepting your claim for direct billing.
2. Intake + Scheduling Information
Once your benefits have been verified and your claim is eligible, you will receive your health intake forms by email, along with information about your care and how to schedule.
3. Referral, When Required
If required by your insurance carrier, a referral, prescription, or letter of medical necessity must be received before your first session can be scheduled.
4. Your First Session
Once the necessary information and documentation are in place, you can schedule your first visit. Your initial session will allow time to discuss your accident, current concerns, and the course of care appropriate to your recovery.
5. Continuing Care
As your recovery progresses, treatment will adapt to how your body responds and your needs change. Continued care is provided as clinically appropriate and within the terms of your available PIP benefits.
